I can't say that this is a surprise. After sending Biden to place the wreath on the tomb of the unknown (the FIRST president not to do so).
Reinforces his viewpoint on American traditions. On the other hand he's not desecrating things certain people hold to be sacred. Could be a hidden bonus?
Oh and the icing on the cake? Obama as president is the honorary president of the BSA.
